    Course Description:

In this final of three surveys on Jewish History and Culture, the learner will explore the historical roots of the return to the Land of Israel, the forces that helped mobilize the world behind the need to establish the state of Israel, and the consequences of the decision to do so.

Zionism, the Holocaust, Israel’s re-birth, Arab radicalization and the challenges facing Israel in the future will be examined in detail. World War 1 and II will be discussed with a view to championing the commitments of those who worked fearlessly to bring the plight of the Jewish people to the world’s attention, despite growing world anti-Semitism. The work and impact of such leaders as Theodor Herzl, David Ben-Gurion, Vladimir Jabotinsky, A.D. Gordon, Golda Meir and others will be highlighted, along with others in the Arab and European world. The philosophical underpinnings of Hitler’s Nazi regime, the impact of immigration, and the growth of political parties in Israel will be examined in terms of Scripture and prophecy, confirming God’s plan to return Jewish peoples back to Israel as Messianic followers of Yeshua.

In addition, the profound impact that Jewish peoples have had on the social, educational, scientific, technological, agricultural, and business life of Israel and the world will be juxtaposed against the continuing strife of Arab-Israeli tension.

At the end of this course, the learner will have a much better understanding and appreciation of the challenges that brought the State of Israel into existence, and will acquire a new appreciation of how to share the reality of the Messiah with a people who have yet to know Him.
